Pembroke High School Guidance Update

Dear PHS Families,

The Guidance Department is pleased to share this update/reminder of important upcoming dates and events. Please reach out to your child’s guidance counselor with any specific questions.

The Pembroke Public Library has a subscription to mytutor.com which provides tutoring support services to any student that has a Pembroke Public Library card. For more information about the program, you can visit the site directly or email Stephanie McBain at: smcbain@sailsinc.org. 

AP EXAMS BEGIN THIS WEEK! Please view the AP Google Doc  from AP Coordinator, Mrs. Conathan.  It contains testing dates, times, and locations; important reminders for AP students; information about quarantining during AP exams, navigating digital exams, and more. This update is posted on all AP Teachers' Google Classrooms. 

SENIOR UPDATES/REMINDERS: 

Guidance counselors met with seniors last week during Titan Time to complete their Senior Exit Survey. It is required that all seniors complete this survey prior to graduation. (Students will not be able to collect their cap/gown until it is completed). If any senior has not completed the survey, they should follow these steps to do so:  

LOGIN TO NAVIANCE HERE   

USERNAME is: FIRSTNAME.LASTNAME (not an email address) 

Students created their password, if they do not remember it, please select "forgot your password" 

Once logged into Naviance: 

  •  Click on "ABOUT ME"
  •  Click on "MY SURVEYS"
  •  Click on "SURVEYS NOT STARTED"
  •  Click on "CLASS OF 2021 GRADUATION SURVEY"

Seniors are reminded that they must complete a total of 40 Community Service Hours as a graduation requirement. The Guidance Counselors have notified all seniors that currently have less than 40 hours this week via email. Seniors can download the Community Service Log Sheet here and submit it directly to Mrs. Webb, the Guidance Secretary. 

JUNIOR UPDATES:

SAT & ACT IMPORTANT DATES/REMINDERS: 

Juniors that are interested in registering for the SAT and or ACT should be mindful of the upcoming dates and deadlines listed below.

 

Students should plan to practice prior to their test date. The Collegeboard website has useful resources including sample questions, test day checklists and more.

SAT Spring Test Dates:

June 5th - Registration Deadline: May 6th

Please note: The Collegeboard is no longer offering SAT Subject Tests

 

ACT Spring Test Dates:

To register for the ACT visitwww.actstudent.org

June 12th - Registration Deadline: May 7th  

July 17th - Registration Deadline: June 18

 

*If any student receives reduced or free lunch, please see your guidance counselor for an SAT and/or ACT fee waiver code.

 

POST SECONDARY PLANNING REMINDERS: 

Juniors that are interested in attending a 4-year college should actively be working on the Spring and Summer checklist and logging into their Guidance Google Classroom for updates and important announcements. To view the College Planning Checklist please click here. 

Any student athlete that is interested in playing Division I or Division II sports in college should visit the NCAA Clearinghouse website to register.  For information about the process and requirements for eligibility view the NCAA Guide for College Bound Student Athlete
