Health Services Update

Dear Pembroke Public Schools Families and Staff:

I hope this letter finds you well and that you have enjoyed some much-needed rest and downtime over winter break. As we prepare to welcome staff and students back to the buildings this week, staff on Monday 1/4 for professional development and Cohort A/C students on Tuesday 1/5, I wanted to give you an update on our local health data, most specifically current active case information for our students and staff. As you probably know, our region has been experiencing an increase in COVID-19 cases since the Thanksgiving holiday. We continue to work closely with our local health officials and will continue to evaluate current health and safety conditions and make future decisions accordingly.

Our COVID-19 Dashboard remains the best source of current information for our community. There have been 8 new student-related cases since 12/23 and 6 new staff cases. At this time 6 student cases and 3 staff cases remain active. Given the timing of these test results and winter break, there were very few additional school-based notifications that needed to be made. These notifications were made this past week by our local health officials as well as the Community contact tracing team. Our dashboard is updated daily, and we continue to review each reported case in our community.

I would also like to remind both staff and families about the Massachusetts Travel Order. If you travel outside of Massachusetts to any state that is not considered a lower risk state, you must either :

  1. Quarantine for a full 10 days after returning OR
  2. Receive a negative COVID-19 test and submit the results to the school nurse before returning.

It is suggested that you test after returning to Massachusetts. If a parent or guardian of a child under 10 has a negative test result, that child does not have to quarantine or take a test, but parent test results would need to be submitted to the school nurse prior to the student returning.

Please visit the Mass.gov website for additional information including special travel scenarios. Please send all testing documentation to your school nurse prior to returning to school. A list of testing locations can be found on the Mass.gov testing website.

Stay well,

Erin
