Notice of Procedural Safeguards
Dear Parents/Guardians:
In compliance with the federal special education law, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEA-2004,) the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education recommends that school districts identify a specific date each year when every eligible student enrolled in the district, including those in out-of-district placements, will be sent a copy of the Parent’s Notice of Procedural Safeguards.
Parents/ guardians will be provided a copy of the procedural safeguards when an initial evaluation is proposed and then, once annually, Attached is your annual copy of the Parent’s Notice of Procedural Safeguards. This document is also located on the website under 'Student Services'.
This document is being sent to all people on the broadcast email lists to see whether your child receives special education services or not, because it could be relevant and useful information in the future.
