School Safety & Security Public Forum- January 10, 2022

Dear Families,

Given the events in the country and our community over the last several weeks, we feel it is important to open a dialogue with families about school safety.  We understand that you may have concerns about the security measures, and practices that are in place and carried out daily at each of our schools. Pembroke Police Chief McDonald and I will be holding a public forum to address these topics on January 10, 2022, at 6:00 PM. The purpose of this forum is to share what protocols and procedures are already in place and to gather concerns and feedback from families as we seek to improve these protocols.

The District's top priority is always the safety, security, and well-being of all students and staff. We realize that despite all of the steps taken, we are not immune and must all remain vigilant. We will broadcast additional information about this important forum in early January; however, we wanted to provide everyone with advance notice of the time and date so you may set your calendars accordingly if you wish to participate.

The District is always available to support families through our school counselors, psychologists, and other professional staff. You can also find additional resources on the District's website: www.pembrokek12.org

Below you will find some web resources that may be of help to support children outside of school. If your child is demonstrating any anxiety or fear around school safety, please contact your child’s Principal or school counselor immediately for guidance.

Please know that as a parent, I recognize that these are not easy times for any of us. Thank you for your continued support as we all work together to create a safe and positive learning environment for our children.

Sincerely,

Erin Obey
