Welcome Back Letter
Dear Bryantville Families:
We hope you are having a wonderful summer! The end of last school year seems not long ago, but here we are getting ready for the new school year. Thank you again for the flexibility, support, and understanding that you showed last year. Last year was filled with changes as we learned how to navigate a different world, and we appreciated all you did to support your students along the way. We look forward to building off the positive end of the school year and starting this school year with a renewed sense of normalcy.
The Bryantville staff is ready to kick off another exciting year of learning for our students! Our office support staff and custodians have been busy preparing for another exciting year since the students left in June. A huge thank you goes out to all the staff who work tirelessly through the summer to ensure the school is ready and prepared for our students in the Fall. The school is gleaming, schedules are completed, and classroom assignments have been prepared. Enclosed you will find your child’s classroom placement along with a list of students assigned to the classroom. The list of classmates may be useful in helping your child make new friends prior to the start of school. If your child is in the band or orchestra (grades 5&6 only), we have enclosed that schedule as well.
Registration
Please register your student for school if you have not already done so. All new and returning students must register for school using our online registration portal. For those students returning to us, you should have received an email from the district on July 19 with your child’s “snapcode”. This code will be required for you to access all parts of the registration portal. You can find the link to the registration portal on our district website under “Enrollment and Attendance”. If you have any questions, please contact the main office.
Staffing Updates
We are excited to announce our new staff members that will be joining our school community this year, as well as some teacher assignment changes that were made in preparation for the new school year. To start, Mrs. Samantha Powell will be moving from third grade to first grade due to student enrollment. Mrs. Powell has taught in the younger grades previously, and she is excited to return to the younger grades and work with our first grade team. Further, Mrs. Powell will be on maternity leave at the start of the year. She will have a long-term substitute in her position to start the year. We are currently in the process of searching for the long-term sub, and we are hopeful that we will find someone of the same caliber to ensure a smooth transition for our students.
We are happy to welcome new staff members, Mr. Michael Rosen and Miss Erin Haley, to our sixth grade team. Mr. Rosen is returning to Pembroke schools. He has previously taught at the Middle School, as well as spent time in Hull. Miss Haley is also returning as she spent time with Mrs. Matheson’s classroom last year. Miss Haley joins us with unique experience, including teaching abroad and tutoring collegiate athletes in Oklahoma. Mr. Rosen and Miss Haley will be filling the void that has been left with the absence of Janet Davis and Liz Bartholomae. Ms. Davis and Mrs. Bartholomae will be greatly missed. While they will not be able to be replaced, we are looking forward to and are excited to have Mr. Rosen’s and Miss Haley’s expertise and enthusiasm in joining our Bryantville team.
Mrs. Erin Sharon will be joining our staff as our reading specialist. We are thrilled that this year, this position is full time! Due to each building having a full-time reading specialist, Mrs. Goode will be full time at North Pembroke. She will be missed at Bryantville, but we look forward to our continued collaboration with her through her work with Mrs. Sharon. Mrs. Sharon comes to us with a wealth of experience and knowledge, having previously worked for Hanson. We are lucky to have her and her expertise!
Bryantville is also welcoming Miss Ilene Riley as our new school adjustment counselor. Mrs. Larson started her career working with older students, and she has chosen to return to that work by moving over to Middle School. While we are lucky to still have her in Pembroke, she will certainly be missed at Bryantville. We are grateful to have found Miss Riley as Mrs. Larson’s successor. Miss Riley brings a depth of knowledge and strategies from her experience in Plymouth strategy where she was shared between elementary schools.
At Bryantville, our paraprofessional staff is the backbone of our support. Unfortunately, two of our paraprofessionals, Mrs. Roberta Carmichael and Mr. Max Walls will not be returning. Mrs. Carmichael is retiring after many years of dedication to Bryantville, and Mr. Walls will be pursuing his graduate degree in Education. We are excited to welcome Miss Sara Coletta and Miss Lindsey North as new paraprofessionals joining our staff. Both have demonstrated experience and excitement in joining our community and Bryantville, and we look forward to welcoming them.
Frequently Asked Questions and Answers
Is the school day the same as last year?
Our school day for students has remained the same for the upcoming school year. The day starts at 8:15AM and ends at 3:00PM. Students will be marked tardy/late if they arrive after 8:15. If parents wish to utilize the YMCA before or after-school program, information can be picked up in the main office.
You can help us on the first day of school by completing and returning the enclosed dismissal form. If there are certain days when your student will be picked up from school, a note with these days clearly listed ensures that we do not put the child on the bus. Without a note from home, we assume that children take the bus. Please make sure to include your student’s first and last name as well as the homeroom teacher when sending in a note.
Where can I find the supply list for the new school year?
Supply lists can be found by going to the Pembroke Schools website and scroll down. There is a section on the left called Summer Learning Quick Links. There are links to access the supply lists as well as other important resources you may find helpful as the new school year gets underway.
Where do I find a copy of the Student/Family Handbook?
The Student/Family Handbook will not be distributed at school. It is available on our website under the “Students and Families” tab and then by clicking on “Family Resources”. This document will be updated soon once the School Committee approves the document. If you need a printed copy, please contact our office. A link is provided during the registration process through School Office Pro as well.
Am I able to send in food for classroom celebrations?
Unfortunately, the answer is no. We have many children with food allergies. In order to protect our children, our school district has a policy that food and drinks may not be traded or shared at school. This is also the reason why we do not allow outside food to be brought to school to celebrate special events. Enclosed is a letter from our school nurse. We thank you in advance for your cooperation.
What days are notices sent home?
Thursdays are “Communication Days” in our school. We use these days to send home newsletters and announcements. Weekly information is shared out on our Facebook page (Bryantville Elementary School News) as well as through Broadcast email blasts. You should receive these email blasts automatically when you register your child on School Office Pro; however, if you are not receiving them, you can go to the district website and under the Community tab, select broadcast emails.
