Pembroke Public Schools Community Social Justice Workshop

Dear Pembroke Families,

Please join us on February 4th at 6:30 PM for a Social Justice Community Workshop. This highly interactive, virtual workshop is designed to introduce our community to the work we are doing to ensure diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging for all students. Presenters will address the areas below as well as provide time for questions.

  • Identify how systemic racism impedes learning opportunities for underserved students
  • Explore strategies to raise learning outcomes for underserved students
  • Take a deep dive into the challenges and opportunities linked to equitable access for all students

Facilitated by Dr. Andre Morgan and guest speaker Dr. Darnisa Amante-Jackson

 

About Our Speakers: 

 

Dr. André Morgan

Dr. André Morgan leads and oversees Prek-12 opportunity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism efforts for Beverly Public Schools, and serves as a Lecturer on Education at the Tokyo University and Graduate School of Social Welfare. In his background, Dr. Morgan has bridged school and community partnerships in rural, suburban and urban districts in Texas, helped Massachusetts school districts realize student achievement gains through personalized learning strategies, worked with districts in Illinois, New York, and Pennsylvania, to establish data systems to help analyze and cite performances based on evidence, developed innovative curriculums for students and adults, and championed school reform in the Texas State legislature. Dr. Morgan holds a Doctor of Education Leadership degree from Harvard University, a Doctor of Philosophy degree from American University, a Master of Teaching degree from the University of Virginia, and a Bachelor of Arts degree, also from the University of Virginia.
 

 
 

Dr. Darnisa Amante-Jackson

Dr. Darnisa Amante-Jackson is an educational and racial equity strategist, who is deeply committed to the study of culture, innovation, and adult development. Since earning her master’s degree in Anthropology from Brandeis University, and her doctorate in Educational Leadership from Harvard University, Dr. Amante-Jackson has honed her knowledge of culture and adult development to transform organizational and school cultures on issues of equity; change management, and re-design. She currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer and President of The Disruptive Equity Education Project, also known as (DEEP), and as a system-level leadership lecturer at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
