Pembroke High School students selected to exhibit at University of Massachusetts Dartmouth
Pembroke High School would like to announce that five students have been accepted to the College of Performing Visual & Performing Arts (CVPA) Emerging Young Artists 2020 Exhibition at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. The College of Visual and Performing Arts hosts this highly competitive annual high school juried exhibition and recognizes the exceptional merit of art students from high school art programs in New England. The Emerging Young Artists 2020 Juried Exhibition received submissions from 276 young artists, from which juror Dean Lawrence Jenkens, selected 79 works to be part of the exhibition.
Pembroke High School is proud to have five students representing the art program at the exhibition this year. Submissions from Torie Burrill, Grant Hall, Alyssa Alther all from Ms. Lazarus’s class have been chosen. In addition to submissions from Isabella Celli from Ms. Motta’s class and Kelsey Wu from Ms. Massa’s class.
The exhibition is on display from January 22nd through February 8, 2020, in the CVPA Campus Gallery in the CVPA Building of UMass Dartmouth located at 285 Old Westport Road, Dartmouth. The EYA 2020 exhibition reception for the exhibiting young artists, their teachers, the UMass Dartmouth community, and the general public will be held from 1-3 PM on Saturday, February 8th. Awards will be presented by CVPA’s Dean Lawrence Jenkens at 2:30 PM.
The following awards will be presented Dean’s Award, 1stPlace Award, 2ndPlace Award, 3rdPlace Award, and Honorable Mentions. The Dean’s Award, 1stPlace Award, 2ndPlace Award, and 3rdPlace Award winners will receive a merit scholarship if they enroll as a major at the College of Visual and Performing Arts at UMass Dartmouth. Every student whose work merits an award will be given a portfolio waiver if he or she applies to CVPA. All EYA 2020 exhibitors will receive a Certificate of Participation.
