Pembroke Teacher Inducted into Massachusetts Track Coaches Association Hall of Fame

September 12, 2021-  Pembroke Public Schools is pleased to announce that veteran teacher Gregory Zopatti has been inducted into the Massachusetts Track Coaches Association Hall of Fame.  The Annual MSTCA banquet was held on September 12, 2021, at the Lantana in Randolph Massachusetts.  The banquet honored MSTCA coaches, athletes, and Hall of Fame Inductees. 

Mr. Zopatti was one of eight inducted into the  2020 MSTAC Hall of Fame.  This honor is an incredible achievement, as he is one of the youngest coaches ever to achieve this honor. Mr. Zopatti is a 17-year veteran teacher with the Pembroke Public Schools.  He has been instrumental in his role as the Pembroke High School Cross Country and Track & Field Head Coach.  The track and field program has flourished under his leadership since splitting from Silverlake High School in 2005. 

Mr. Zopatti, widely known as Coach Z has led his teams to great success over the past 10 years- including 2 trips to the Nike Cross Team Nationals, 5 x All-State Champions, and over 20 EMass Titles in XC & Track. He has also had over 40 athletes go on to compete in the NCAA.

In addition to his incredible record with the Pembroke High School Athletics Program, he is also the Co-Founder and Director of Running for the Berkshire Running Camp.  He plans and develops a comprehensive running program for his athletes.  Planning each season’s run locations is a favorite job of Coach Z’s.  

His love for the sport of running parlays directly into his love for teaching. Mr. Zopatti always embraces new lessons and challenges both on and off the track.  In his role at Pembroke Community Middle School, he continues to grow and expand the STEM education program. As a Project Lead the Way Certified Educator,  he has been an instrumental part of the implementation of the program in Pembroke.
