Website Accessibility Notice

The Pembroke Public School District (“District”) seeks to understand and respect the unique needs of our students and community. The district is actively working to increase the accessibility and usability of our website. We are committed to making the website accessible to individuals with disabilities as required by law, and are in the process of making sure the website and content pages meet accessibility guidelines by using (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 Level AA standards.

As of June 27, 2023, Pembroke Public Schools officially switched to a new website vendor, and since then has been working to transition content toward bringing our website into compliance. In moving to the new web hosting platform, the district chose a vendor that offered a product that was designed and developed in accordance with the internationally recognized Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 Level AA, as well as the Section 508 standards.

Moving forward, Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 guidelines will apply to all new, updated, and existing web content on www.pembrokek12.org. Accessibility training will be incorporated into web publishing professional development for all contributors of new website content.

Portable Document Format (PDF): Some of the documents on the Pembroke Public Schools website exist in portable document format (PDF). In order to improve viewing of these files for all, we are in the process of identifying and prioritizing PDF files as part of an overall strategy to bring us into full compliance. Part of this work will be to train employees to ensure PDF files are checked for accessibility before they are uploaded to the website. Legacy files will either be remediated or removed. In some cases, PDF files that are too complex to remediate and/or the original documents are no longer available, the district will archive them, and in doing so provide notice to anyone with a disability needing access to these files of an option to request them in an alternate format.

Any individual who is unable to access any material in the form presented on the district’s website because of a disability, should report this to the district. Pembroke Public Schools will then work towards providing access to such material, if it can be made available in an alternative, more accessible format.

Individuals requesting alternative access to website content may send correspondence to webmaster@pembrokek12.org  or to the following address: Pembroke Public Schools, Software Integration and Data Manager at 72 Pilgrim Road, Pembroke MA, 02359.

To assist the District in responding to your request, please indicate the nature of the accessibility concern, the web address of the requested material, your desired outcome or preferred format in which you want to receive the material, and your name and contact information.
