English Language Education

As part of the Pembroke Public Schools registration process, parents/guardians are asked to complete a Home Language Survey. Home Language Surveys of any student whose first language is other than English will be given to the English Language Department. These students will be assessed using language screening tools administered by qualified, trained district personnel. Based on the results of the language screening assessment and other pertinent information, a determination will be made as to whether the student is an English Language Learner (ESL) and qualifies for English Language instruction appropriate for the student's level of English language proficiency.

Parents/guardians will be notified of the language screening assessment results.

Parents/guardians have a right to "opt-out" of these services or request a waiver.

The Pembroke Public Schools website allows you to "translate" any of or web pages into many different languages. The translate feature is located in the lower right-hand corner of the website. There are some limitations to using a software program for translations; if you need help accessing the posted information, please contact us at the emails listed below or call your child's school for clarification.
