PCMS FIELD & TEAM DAYS
To celebrate the end of the year, we will be having team days and field days. Eighth graders will have their field day on Monday, June 14th; seventh-graders on Tuesday, June 15th. In addition to typical field day activities (e.g. kickball), we have rented several inflatable carnival-like interactive games. PTO has generously funded the inflatable rentals, so our thanks to them.
For team days, the teachers have created a day of in-school activities.
We will be looking for parent volunteers to help us with the field day activities. You will need an updated CORI. Please email Maggie Glynn (firstname.lastname@example.org). We will need volunteers from 9-11 am and 12-2 pm on both days.
PCMS Tie Dye
Students will be making a tie-dye shirt to wear on field days. Please send a plain white shirt in with your child over the next 2 weeks.
PHS Freshman Soccer Meeting
All 8th graders planning to play soccer their Freshman year at PHS, please attend a short meeting with Girls Head Coach Travis Dupuis and Boys Head Coach Adam Scott on Tuesday, May 18th at 12:05 in place of Titan Study. Students should sign up for the meeting ahead of time in the front office. Team 8.2 students that are attending this meeting will eat lunch with the 8.1 students that day. All attending please make sure to download the REMIND APP so you may join & receive important Info Notifications to join the program!
The Jazz Band now meets in person after school. Rehearsals will be held every Tuesday, from 2:30-3:30, in the auditorium. Students will need to arrange for a ride home after rehearsal.
PEMBROKE PUBLIC LIBRARY: Online Tutoring
Pembroke Public Library has a subscription to a tutoring service. It offers free online tutoring for anyone with a Pembroke Library card. Go to Tutor.com and to sign up with a Pembroke library card. There is on-demand help every day, 7 days a week from 2-9 pm. No appointment is necessary.
MCAS TESTS: COHORT D students
If you have decided to have your child take MCAS here at PCMS please refer to the schedule and expectations below. If your child is taking this year's MCAS remotely, please be on the 'lookout' for a different email later in the month with separate directions and schedules, etc.
WHAT: MCAS Testing MATH/ELA/STE
WHERE: PCMS Cafeteria (drop off by cafeteria doors between 7:45-8 am)
WHEN: Wednesday, May 26th @ 8 am. MATH and ELA Grades 7 and 8
Friday, May 28th @ 8 am: STE Grade 8 only
All students need to arrive with a fully charged Chromebook along with their charger. They will be proctored by Mrs. Kiely McDonough. Students will finish at different times because this is an untimed test (each will take both ELA and MATH on the same day). Once they are finished they can call or text parents for a ride home. (Most students will probably finish by 10:30.)
Once you have decided that your child will test here in the building, please email Tom Walsh (email@example.com) confirming your child will be attending the PCMS testing sessions on the above dates.
TRANSITIONING TO PCMS
In early May, we began the course registration process for the 6th-grade students who will be moving to the middle school next year. Here are several links that families of future 7th graders may find helpful:
