Devices - Procedures, Damages and Fees

    Please bring your damaged Pembroke assigned Chromebook to your school as soon as you realize it is broken. If your child is attending school remotely, please contact your child’s regular school to arrange a device drop off. Please note that devices must be sent to Pembroke Public Schools for repairs. Taking Pembroke devices to any other provider will void our warranty with the device.

    Some damages are covered by Pembroke technicians and others require us to send the Chromebook out for repair.



    Warranties don't cover spills in or on the unit, drops, falls, screen breaks, and electrical surges that occur in the course of the normal intended use of the product. Warranties do not cover cosmetic damage and/or other damage that doesn't affect the device’s functionality or intentional damage. For details on your child’s device’s warranty, please read the form you received and signed when picking up the device.



    If your child’s device is broken beyond the total cost, there will be a replacement fee for the damage. The fee varies between $300-$320 depending on device.     Theft is not covered for most grade levels. However, we have options to lock down the device if the device is lost or stolen with directions on where to return the device. If your device is missing, please let your child’s teacher know ASAP so this process can be started. 


    Daily Expectations

    • The expectation is that you will use Pembroke Chromebooks or iPads daily in school

    • Secure and lock your Chromebook or iPad

    • Fully charge EVERYDAY

    • Bring to every class

    • Follow rules and expectations set by your classroom teachers

    • Follow rules and expectations of the Pembroke Public Schools Code of Conduct


    Device Care

    • Treat your iPad or Chromebook carefully when the device is inside your backpack.

    • Place your device in a backpack that is free of food, liquids, and heavy or sharp objects

    • Do not eat or drink around the device because a spill could cause permanent damage

    • Report any damage or breaks immediately to your teacher

    You can find a copy of the device acceptance form here. This policy covers expectations surrounding:

    • Use of Chromebooks for educational purposes only

    • Appropriate sites, apps, and usage

    • Responsibility for damage and destruction

    • Consequences for violation of terms and conditions

    • Responsibility of students to behave respectfully and positively in digital environments



    You only get one charger. Please keep track of it. Replacement chargers are $30. If you lose or break your charger, contact your main office.
