April 27, 2020- Remote Learning Update

  •

This week we embark on our fourth week of remote learning. The students have been doing a fantastic job adjusting over these past several weeks. As you know, the Governor made the decision last week to keep schools closed for the remainder of the academic year. I am sure that there are lots of questions as to how this will impact what remote learning will look like for the coming weeks. Please know that we continue to adapt our instruction to meet the recommendations that are set forth by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

Over the next several weeks, our focus will shift from providing students with review material to content that will be new. The material that will be covered, will be rolled out strategically, and focused content standards that have been predetermined for all schools in the Commonwealth will be addressed. We will continue to keep our families updated to any changes to the remote learning plan that is currently in place. I do not expect that students will experience any significant changes to the structure that they have become accustomed to during the school closure.

Now that we definitively know that school will not resume in the traditional sense for the remainder of the year, you as parents may be faced with how to provide a sense of closure for your child. Our sixth-grade students will perhaps be most impacted by the lack of closure that events at the end of the school year typically provide to them. We are committed to providing our students with some sort of promotion ceremony/event to celebrate their accomplishments during their time at Hobomock. Please know that we will do everything that we can to provide proper closure for all of our students as it becomes safe to do so. We will continue to keep you informed as these decisions are made within our school community.

Thank you all for your continued support. If I can be of any help in the days or weeks ahead, please do not hesitate to contact me at michael.murphy@pembrokek12.org

     Sincerely,

    Michael Murphy
